COMMERCIAL RADIO
REV. MR SCRIMGEOUR'S POSITION
[Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 16. Interviewed concerning a report that he may be appointed to a post in connection with the Government’s scheme of commercial radio, the Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour said it was no secret that he was definitely interested in the introduction of commercial radio, and had had many conferences with Mr Savage on the subject. He had advocated a policy as the only satisfactory means of providing without cost to the listener a service worthy of comparison with other countries. Regarding the control of this service, Mr Scrimgeour said: “ I expect the Prime Minister will make announcements when he is ready, and in the meantime it is not my place to make further comment.”
