INTERVALS BETWEEN RACES

RULE MUST BE OBSERVED [Pee United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, September 16. The rule providing for 35-mxnuto intervals between races must be observed, according to the decision of the New Zealand Trotting Association. In reply to representations from the Metropolitan Trotting Club, the association states that it has no power to give permission to clubs to depart from the rule. The association added: “ There seems to be an impression that there is no penalty prescribed for a breach of the rules by a club, but this is erroneous. If the club breaks the rule the association has tltb power; under rule 60, to cancel or suspend the certificate of registration of a club, and under 379 may, in the case of a wilful breach, inflict a fine of any amount.” In the case of the Metropolitan Club the explanation was accepted.
