RUGBY O.R.F.U, COMMITTEE The Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Union met last night, Dr A. Perry (president) in the chair. RANFURLY SHIELD. The secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union wrote:—“l am in receipt of your telegram of the Bth instant regretting your being unable to accept my union’s challenge for the Ranfurly Shield on September 3D owing to the 40-hour week preventing a number of players obtaining the necessary leave to play on Wednesdays. This matter was considered at the last meeting of ray union,' and it was decided to accept your decision on this matter.” The letter was “ received.” OTAGO v. WELLINGTON. The Wellington Rugby Union wrote advising that its representative team would leave Wellington on September 16, arriving at Dunedin on the evening of September 17. Four of the players who were with the New Zealand team would remain in Dunedin until after the match with Otago on September 19. There would be 24 in the party, five of whom would return to Wellington after the Otago match, and the balance would go on to Invercargill, leaving Dunedin on September 21. CURTAIN-RAISER. It was arranged to play as a curtainraiser to the Otago-Wellington match a game between the primary schools representative team and a high school team, the latter side not to include players over 7.75 t. (The former team will have a practice on the Oval at 3.45 p.m. on Thursday.) REFEREE APPOINTED. The New Zealand Rugby Union advised that Mr L. M. Wright of Dunedin, had been appointed referee for the Southland v. Australia match on Wednesday,. September 16. TRANSFERS SOUGHT. Applications for transfers were received as followsA. M'Kerrow, from Southern to Union; F. Wilkinson, from Alhambra to Unions A. J. Bels-ey, from Pirates to Kaikorai; J. Lanauze, from Green Island to Pirates. It was decided to deal with the applications, under the union’s rules, in six months’ time.
