B. Roy, N. D. Anderson, J. Cherry, W. Lovell, J. A. Carman, and W. Rutherford Accounts amounting to £1,069 19s lOd were passed for payment. An increase of £3 10s 6d in the water account as compared with the previous fortnight was reported. The Secretary of the St. Kilda Cricket Club made application for a wicket on Culling Park for the coming season.— It was decided to refer the application to the Reserves Committee. REPORTS. The Borough Inspector reported on license matters dealt with, and stated that buildings had been inspected, and, where necessary, the owners had been notified to effect repairs. Complaints had been attended to, and traffic duty performed.—Adopted. Sixteen water bursts had been attended to, reported the plumber, while other work done was the repairing of the water main in Ferguson street, raising toby boxes, asphalting water services, repairing taps and stopcocks, inspecting the borough daily, and effecting certain other repairs.—Adopted. The Borough Foreman reported on work done since the last meeting, and suggested for the ensuing fortnight the reconstruction of Moreau street, work which would take about three weeks, as it was necessary to remove a foot of the surface in order to get at least 6ft for a foundation, the road being very soft and spongy.—Adopted. SURVEY OF STREETS. In a letter, the chief surveyor of the Department of Lands and Survey raised the question of undertaking a standard survey of the streets ' within the borough. The prosecution of a similar survey extending over the City of Dunedin was now in process of being completed. The St. Kilda Borough adjoined the city, and on completion of the work in hand a favourable opportunity was presented to extend the survey to embrace St, Kilda area. The main cities, as well as the more important boroughs, had all undertaken extensive standard surveys. Two-fifths of the cost of these surveys was payable by the local authority, the balance being met by the department. In the case of St. Kilda 17J miles of streets were involved. The cost usually worked out at approximately £6O a mile. This meant that the estimated cost of the work would be £1,065, and the sum of £426 would be payable by the council. The survey would probably extend over two years.—lt was decided to • defer consideration of the question until the next meeting.
