The fresh week on the Auckland Stock Exchange opened very* quietly, and the business recorded at the first call was confined to sales in the banking section. New Zealands were weaker with a market between 39s 2d and 39s 4d. Insurances were dull, the only buyers being at 18s 2d for National and at 62s for New Zealands. Australian issues had a firm market at about late rates. Goldsbroughs were asked for at 335, Colonial Sugar at £43, and Broken Hills at 77s 3d. while Electrolytic Zincs (pref.) sold IJd higher at 43s 7jd. Buyers for Mort’s Dock moved up Id to 11s 9d, and G. J. Coles were wanted at 79s 6d. New Zealand industrials were dull, but New Zealand Newspapers had fresh business at £2, and Kaiapoi (cont.) had a sale at the unchanged rate of 6s 9d. Woolworths (New Zealand) dropped 3d, with a transaction at £5 Is Del, after which buyers dropped out, leaving unsupported sellers at £5 2s 6d. Buyers for Dominion Breweries moved up to 30s 9d without attracting holders. There was a freer offering of Government loans; but seders’ reserves were abqv’c recent sale prices. <
