WEATHER FORECAST
UNSETTLED, RAIN PROMILE The following weather report was issued at noon by the _ Meteorologist Office, Wellington, covering the- southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Win ton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— Pressure is high to the north and north-east of New Zealand-and low in the south. Ah intense westerly depression is advancing across the South Tasman. Forecast: Strong north-westerly winds, reaching gale force in places, backing later to the west or southwest. Weather: Unsettled and rain probable at most places. Temperatures mild. Seas rough about Foveaus Strait, elsewhere moderate, but rising off-shore, FINE, BUT OVERCAST. Following warm temperatures yesterday afternoon, and cool temperatures last evening, when a light shower of rain fell towards midnight, this morning broke fine but with an overcast sky in Dunedin. The coolness of the temperatures this.' morning, when the registrations to 1 p.m. were 52deg maximum and 48deg minimum, was accentuated by a southerly wind. Yesterday the thermometer readings at the same time were 55deg and 48deg, while over a period of 24 hours the readings were 58.2 deg and 45.1 deg respectively. There was no frost last evening, and the rainfall was insufficient for registration. _ Barometrie pressure at noon was falling at 29.5 in. Indications at 12.30 p.m. were for * fine afternoon with cool temperatures.
