MAIZE AND WHEAT Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, September 10. A maize crop of 1,458,000,000 bushels •was predicted by the Department of Agriculture to-day on the basis of conditions on September 1. This is onethird per cent, above the estimates of August 1, but still the smallest crop for 55 years. A yield of 630,000,000 bushels of wheat is predicted, or barely enough to meet domestic requirements.
