INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES
[Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 11. An agreement between the parties in the milk roundsmen’s dispute was reported to the Arbitration. Court today by the employees’ representative. The ease came before the court on Tuesday, when a basis for a subsequent agreement was reached. The main features of the agreement are as follows Starting time, of work, 2.30 a.m.; a weekly wage of £4 16s; a 10day fortnight of 80 hours; and the elimination of commission. The court will make an award on the terms agreed upon. A complete agreement was reached at the Conciliation Council hearing today of the industrial dispute between the Wellington Paint and Varnish Employees’ Union and Lewis Berger and Sons (N.Z.) Ltd., and others. Mr M. J. Reardon was the presiding commissioner. The following scale of wages was agreed upon;—Leading hands £5 a week, shaders,_ £4 16s; other adult males £4 ss; junior males £1 at starting, with half-yearly increments of 4s for the first three years and 5s thereafter until the age of 21; 2s extra for each shift worked between 5 p.m. and 7.30 a.m., and casual workers 2s 6d an hour. Forty hours are to constitute a week’s work, the 'ordinary hours to bo eight on five days of the week, to be worked between i .30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Overtime was fixed at time and a-half for the first’ four hours and double time thereafter.
