FAIR AND MILDER The following weather report vat issued at noon by the _ Meteorologist Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— Yesterday’s depression ' has _ passed eastwards and an anti-cyclone is passing to the north. Another depression, is now advancing across the South Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate to strong westerly winds, veering to 'north-westerlies and increasing to gale force in places. Weather fair and milder, but clouding over and rain later. Seas rough. FINE AND SUNNY. After scattered showers from 7.45 last evening, this morning broke 'fine, with bright sunshine, the absence of wind accentuating the warmth of the temperature. Registrations at 12.80 p.m, were 55deg maximum and 48deg minimum, with 58deg and 50deg ibemg the corresponding readings at the same time yesterday. The thermometer showed 58deg and 45deg for a 24-hour period yesterday, to-day’s reading showing a slight increase. Barometric pres- . sure at noon had risen from 29.45 m to 29.73 in at noon to-day, to maintain a -- steady level. There was no frost last evening. Indications «,t 1 p.m., when a slight south-westerly breeze had developed, were for fine, warm conditions this afternoon.
