WET WEATHER PAYMENT
STANDIHG-BY TIME The Works Committee of the City ■ Council reports having given further consideration to the matter of payment to labourers for wet weather time. The present position is that men are paid at half rates for all time they are required to stand by, with a minimum of two hours’ pay on any, day on which they report for work. The committee recommends;— That on all jobs when work cannot be commenced at the ordinary starting times in the morning or the afternoon, or is interrupted during the ordinary working hours owing to inclement weather or other similar cause, men who have reported_ themselves to the foreman or ganger in charge of the job at the correct starting time for the morning period of work or for the afternoon period, as the case may be, shall be paid at full rates for the'time actually worked by them and at half rates for the ' difference between four hours and the time actually! worked in each period for which they have reported as aforesaid, provided that, when work is not commenced in either period owing to the causes set out above, the men who have reported as aforesaid shall be paid the equivalent of two hours’ pay at full rates for each period for which they have reported.
