Ex-Police Officer P. Maloney, who petitioned the House asking for redress and that certain records be expunged from the ‘ Police Gazette,’ received “ a most favourable recommendation ” from the Public Petitions (M to Z) Committee. In its report to the House it recommended that a record be made in the ‘ Police Journal ’ and the police files exculpating petitioner in accordance with the findings of_ the Royal Commission, and that additional compensation -be paid him by the Government. The committee added an expression of disapproval of the practice of the Crown Law Office in stipulating that the recipient of compensation or relief must waive all claim to further action.
