WANGANUI BEATS HAWKE'S BAY

[Tint United Press Association.] HASTINGS, September 10. The Hawke’s Bay Rugby representatives wore defeated by 8 points to 0 by the Wanganui team at Hastings this afternoon. For three parts of the time the game was played in a heavy downpour, but for all that the match was a good one in the circumstances. The first spell was fairly even, and though Hawke’s Bay, perhaps enjoyed a slight territorial advantage, there was no score at half-time. After the change-over Hawke’s Bay definitely had the better ,of the game until the last 10 minutes, during which Wanganui surpassed their previous efforts, and scored a couple of tries in quick time to take a victory that, on the general run of the piny, was rather lucky. The first try of the game was scored by Burgess at the corner, Welch’s kick failing. Within a minute of this try the Wanganui forwards came away with a thrilling rush, which ended in Reynolds scoring. Welch-added the extra points. Time was called a few minutes afterwards, with the final score:— Wanganui ... ... ... ... 8 Hawke's Bay ... 0
