VAH COLLiSIDK WITH BICYCLE CHARGE AGAINST DRIVER [Per United Press Association.] BLENHEIM, September 10. Arising out of a fatal accident at Blenheim on August 25, when a young man, Herbert Arthur Wright, was killed, Arthur James Smith, the driver of a butcher’s van, pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court this morning to negligent driving, causing death. Accused was committed for trial at the next sessions of the Supreme Court. According to his statements to the police, accused found the deceased lying injured on the road. The evidence of a small boy was that a van similar to accused’s ppsed him, and he then saw a bicycle light which the van appeared to collide with. ; The police gave evidence that they found spectacles on the floor of the van and marks on the mudguards. ■ The inquest followed the police case, and the coroner (Mr Maunsell) returned an open verdict.
