UNSETTLED—SOME RAIK The following weather report w»» issued at noon by the Meteorologist Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— A depression is now crossing the Dominion. An anti-cyclone is following it across the North Tasman Sea, but a fresh depression has developed over Tasmania. Forecast: Moderate, but freshening, south-east' to southerly winM, veering to-morrow to west and northwest. Weather unsettled, with some rain, and, on the ranges, snow; but improving temporarily from to-night. Temperatures cool; seas rough. . FINE AND WARM. Warmer temperatures were evident this morning, following an absence of frost last evening. To-day’s readings show a slight advance on those at the same time yesterday, the respective maxima being 58 and 54deg, with the corresponding minima at 50 and 44deg. Over a period of 24 hours yesterday the registrations were 57 and 44deg. Barometric pressure has fallen .2in since noon yesterday, when a falling barometer showed 29.65 in; to-day the pressure evinced a tendency to drop still further. The direction of the light wind this morning wat north-easterly. Indications at 1 p.m. were favourable, the afternoon promising to be fine and warm.
