At Forest Hills, Budge, Parker, M'Diarmid, and Mangin advanced to the quarter-finals with fairly easy matches, with the exception of Maiigin, who was extended to 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to defeat Bernard Destreraau, the last survivor of the French team. Perry had a day off. His section will resume play to-morrow.
