NEW BATHS
DUNEDIN'S URGENT NEED [By Hooker.] The growth of swimming in Dunedin has been such in recent years that accommodation at the' Municipal Baths is now fully taxed to cope with the existing chibs, and the time is not far distant when the question of new tepid baths for the city will have to be seriously considered. The swimming community returns a good deal in revenue to the City Council, and, with the tremendous interest now being taken in the sport, the financial position should further improve in the next few years. The Swimming Centre lias several times in recent years directed the attention of the council to the need for new baths, and, apart from accommodation for carnivals, which, after all, help greatly to popularise the sport, the pool accommodation and its surroundings arc badly cramped. The time is opportune now for the question of new baths to, bo rc-opened by the centre in conjunction with the City Council. , Swimming is 'a sport that has an appeal to all sections of the community, and in view of the fine work being done by clubs in Dunedin it should not be difficult to enlist the sympathy of Dunedin citizens in the effort to obtain new baths.
