PIGEON FLYING

The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew a flock race from Christchurch on Saturday last, an airline distance of 201 miles to central lofts. One hundred and fourteen birds from 17 lofts were liberated at 10.15 p.m. in dull weather and a light easterly wind. The winning bird timed in at 2.45 p.m., flying 202 miles 286 yards in 4h 38min 29sec. The first five places are filled as follow (velocities in yards per minute) J.
