POLICE COURT

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30. (Before Mr H. VV. Bundle, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. William Gladstone Wilson was fined 20s on a charge of drunkenness. IN BAR AFTER HOURS. Charged with being found unlawfully on licensed premises after hours, William Duncan, Victor Herbert Langley, and Edward Rodgers were each fined 10s and costs, while George M'Kay Polwafth and Sydney Harris, who also admitted a similar charge, were fined 20s and costs. THEFT ADMITTED. Louie Frame (55) pleaded guilty to a charge of the theft of a pocket wallet, valued at £l. the property of George William Canter. Cliief-detective Young, asking for a remand till Friday, said that in the accused’s possession were a number of other articles, including a valuable lady’s wristlet watch. _lt would be necessary tp make some inquiries in regard to the watch before another charge was preferred. The remand and bail for £lO, with one surety of £lO were granted, MAINTENANCE. John Jesse Woodford appeared on a charge of being in default of payment under a maintenance order, the arrears being £l7 15s 3d, and was sentenced to 1.4 days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended provided that £5 was paid by October 7 and that he registered immediately as unemployed. Archibald Cheyne, Mabel J. Couch, and Ivy Pattullo (Mr C. J. L. White), and Wniifred Simpson defended applications for maintenance orders in respect to a destitute near relative, who was represented by Mr H. Joel,—After hearing further evidence His Worship reserved his decision.

A maintenance order against Andrew John M'Hutcheon was increased from 15s to £1 weekly. Arrears were fixed at £7, and he was ordered to pay them off at the rate of 2s 6d weekly. Mr B. S. Irwin appeared for the complainant.
