STREAM-LINED TRAIN
ENGINE RESEMBLES WARTIME TANK FUNNELS AND BOILER INVISIBLE, Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, September 28. The London and North-eastern Railway’s new stream-lined train Silver Jubilee resembles a gigantic wartime Lank. The funnels and boiler of the. engine are invisible. Tlie. stream lines throw up air which carries the smoke clear of the driver’s cabin. The engine weighs 165 tons and draws seven silvered coaches panelled with steel. The noise at. high speeds is deadened by asbestos insulation on the walls, floor, and roof. The train travels almost without vibration.
