RAID LIKELY The following weather forecast waa issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern district—Dunedin, Port Chalmers* Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— An anti-cyclone, centred east of the North Island, is moving slowly eastwards, and a westerly depression now, extends across the Taman Sea on to southern New, Zealand. FINE BUT DULL, Dull and threatening weather to-day, followed a moderately pleasant weekend, a few drops of rain experienced early this morning being the first for 11 days. Fine weather persisted up' till noon, when, but for a light southwesterly wind, the temperature of 59.1 deg" was mild. The minimum recording during the morning was 52deg* and the barometer was falling at 29.9in* as compared with 30. din at noon .on Saturday. After the haze on Saturday morning the sun broke through warmly, in the afternoon, and the respective temperatures for 24 hours were 59.8 deg and 39deg. Sunday was sunny, but windy until dusk, when a strong northerly subsided. The maximum temperature for the day' was 59deg, with a minimum last night of 43.5 deg .: Neither rain nor frost was recorded during this period, the last frost being a week ago.
