‘THE SKIN GAME'

FINAL PRESENTATION TO-NIGHT It seems a pity that the best of a long string of Repertory Society successes in John Galsworthy’s ‘ Tho Skin Game ’ should bo restricted to a season of four nights. As interpreted by the society tho spirit of social antagonism is completely captured. The piece is a perfect specimen of the modern playwright’s craft, and well has the'cast giv r n its qualities full play. Comedy and tragedy arc skilfully forged ,by the master hand of Galsworthy into a balanced whole ; thus the play never drags. Dominating throughout is Mr Richard White, who invests his role of the domineering Hornblower with a finish which assumes a lustre that slightly dulls the performances of the other players. The others who have leading characters to portray are Mr S. G. Lock (Hillcrist), Miss Violet Livingstone (Airs Hillcrist), Mr E. W. Lees Bullet (Dawker) Miss Anita Winkel (the unfortunate daughter-iu-law), Miss Joyce Messent, Mr E. S. Avent, Mr Deny. MacAvoy, and Mr W. T. Matthews. Tho stage settings and costumes are in good taste, and the musical selections by the orchestra under Mr Charles Martin add considerably to _ a very flue performance. ‘Th Skin Game ’ will ' f presented 1 finally to-night.
