(Received September 27, at 2 p.m.) Thirty-one members of the crew of the Wairuna were arrested and charged with desertion after leaving the vessel, following refusal to furnish steam be* cause the vessel was unloaded by nonunion men through the longshoremen's strike. . . . ■ The men requested deportation by the immigration officials, but the police acted on warrants sworn by the captain and officers. f The stewards re* mained aboard.
