MARRIED MAN’S DEATH

STRUCK BY LORRY An inquest was opened this morning touching the death, of Lawrence Hook, a married man, 34 years of age, who died in the Hospital yesterday morning following injuries received through being struck by a motor lorry in Wilkie road on Tuesday afternoon. Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., sat as coroner, and Sergeant MTlntee conducted proceedings for the police. The deceased, who was. a relief worker, living at Caversham, was cycling along Wilkie road with a companion, and when passing underneath the railway overhead bridge was struck by a motor lorry coming from the opposite direction and driven by Richard Joseph Keogh. The deceased received a fractured left leg, abrasions to the head, and suffered shock, being taken to the Hospital, where he died yesterday morning. . Evidence of identification was given at the inquest by Leonard Ryder, a half-brother of the deceased, and Dr J. 11. Dawson gave evidence that deceased died from shock following the injuries he had received. There might have been some internal injury. Th inquest was adjourned sine die.
