BEST COMEDY OF 1934
‘IT HAPPENED ONE NlfiHT ’ RETURNS Two exceptionally interesting film productions will open a joint season at the Octagon on Friday. ‘it Happened One Night,’ with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert, is a revival of 1934’s multiple prize-winning picture, which was shown at the same theatre last year, and, in passing, is one of the most thoroughly enjoyable comedies of that or any other year. The other film will bo ‘ Social Register,’ a cleverly written and intelligent satire on Park Avenue pomp. This now comedy-drama gives one a peep into the home of a fabulously wealthy social light, wherein a highspirited chorus girl (Colleen Moore) has become firmly ensconced through the affections of the young son of tho house. The Broadway belle immediately proceeds to call Park Avenue’s bluff —and the result is hilarious, rib-tickling screen fun.
