Mr P. M'Skimming, M.P., travelled to Wellington to-day. Mr L. Cheriton, who has been an-* pointed assistant manager of the Chateau Tongariro, was a passenger for the north by to-day’s through express.Mr and Mrs J. Gordon, jun., who have been here on six months’ furlough, left by the second express today for Singapore via Sydney. Dr Williams returned to-day from the B.M.A. Conference at Melbourne.
Madame Muriel Brunskill, noted contralto singer, and Mr Carl Bartling, pianist, arrived in Dunedin by the express. yesterday evening. They will 1 proceed to Invercargill to-morrow, and null return to Dunedin on Friday. Mr W. Grieve was a through passenger to-day from Invercargill to the north.
Mr D. W. Madden, chairman of directors of New Zealand Breweries, returned north to-day after a business visit to Dunedin The Rev. E. G. Wilson, at present vicar of the Waimea Plains district, has been appointed vicar of Port Chalmers and Warrington. Major Atberfold, of the local staff or the Salvation _ Amy, left for Wellington this morning to attend the funeral of the late Brigadier Middlemass. Mr W. J. Mains (Auckland), Mr S. Masters (Christchurch), Mr E. Morgan (St. Bathans), and Mr and Mrs T, F. Harrison (Tapanui) are guests at the City Hotel.
