As the result of a raid on a billiard saloon in Arawa street on June 4 by the police, the proprietor, Robert Allan Donald Gray, appeared to-day before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., charged qm two counts with carrying on business as a bookmaker and allowing his premises to he used as a common gaming house. The police produced records of hotting transactions and other hotting material, and alter hearing the evidence the magistrate convicted' (tray on both charges, indicting a fine of £ls in each ease.
