RUGBY IMPASSE

HIGH SCHOOLS' TOURNAMENT OTAGO’S FIXTURES The impasse that has been reached in the South island High Schools' Bugby tournament was referred to. by the rector (Mr H, P. Kidson) in his report to yesterday afternoon’s meeting of the Otago High Schools’ Board of Governors, it being intimated that the •Otago fixtures this year would probably be confined to games with Christ College and Christchurch Boys’ High School, it is unlikely that the match with Waitaki Boys’ High School will be played, Mr Kidson advised that the school Rugby fixtures for this year would probably be restricted to those with Christ’s College and the Christchurch Boys' High School. Southland Boys’ High School and Timaru Boys’ High School intimated that unless the playing of university terms’ students was allowed they woidd not take part in the tournament. The Christchurch Boys’ High School and the Otago Boys’ High School were unwilling to agree to this innovation. Waitaki Boys’ High School had adopted the same attitude as Southland and Timaru, so that it was unlikelv that the match wih Waitaki would be played. 11 The cessation of these - games will he regretted in many ways, hut I consider that if either side has a feeling that the conditions are unfair the games had better not lie played.’’ tbe rector’s report concluded.
