TERMS OF FUSION
SOUTH AFRICAN'PARTIks Imperial co-operation/ CAPE TOWN, June 5. The full terms of fusion between the Nationalist and South African parties were.published to-day. It is stated that both parties desire the development of the people along Christian and national lines, and the development of a predominant sense of national unity based on the equality of*both sections of the community, and coupled with an appreciation by each section of the distinctive cultural heritage of the other. The tonus affirm the existing relationship between the Union and the British Commonwealth and co-operation with its members, subject to there being no derogation from the status of the Union and nc} assumption of external obligations in conflict with its interests. The right to preach republicanism is entrenched in a carefully-worded clause, assuring the right to express individual opinion .pr advocate honest convictions in connection with any change in the form of government. Progressive land settlement, a proper standard of living for the workers, and protection of the European and coloured native population against Asiatic immigration or competition, while recognising the,existing rights of Asiatics legally domiciled, arc advocated. The terms are regarded as a statesmanlike document, which is believed to be acceptable to the followers of Dr Malan They will now be submitted to the party congresses.
