GAOL FOR GAR CONVERSION
PRISONER’S GOOD WORD FDR POLICE [Per United Press Association.] ASHBURTON, June 21. Charged with the conversion of a car, Henry Charles . Cunningham (23), of Duneclin, and Joseph Charles Marks (30), of New Brighton, were sentenced to one month in gaol. On a charge of the theft of a suit case belonging to Alister Harrison, at Wedderburu, Cunningham was remanded to the Supreme Court at Dunedin. After being sentenced, Marks said: “ I would like to say a word of thanks for the good attention of Sergeant W. J, Kelly. 1 think he is tjie most considerate policeman I have ever come in contact with. He looked after us very well, and if they were all like that I am sure not many of us would go back to gaol.” The accused has previous convictions. Both were arrested eight days ago.
