POSED AS A CHEMIST
MAN CHARGED WITH FRAUD PLEADS GUILTY TO OFFENCE. [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, June 20. How a man who posed as a chemist defrauded a woman of £2O was related in the Police Court when Peter Bryce Cunningham (33), a labourer, pleaded guilty to a charge of false pretences. Accused was remanded in custody until to-morrow, so that a report could be made by the probation officer. Accused was charged that, with intent to defraud, he obtained from Dorothy Willis £2O by falsely representing that he was employed in the dispensary at Sunnyside Mental Hospital and was being financed into business by Dr M'Killop, and that he was in receipt of a war pension. Dr M’Killop said the man had no connection with the hospital and there was no truth in his statements.
