UNEMPLOYED WORKERS' MOVEMENT The weekly meeting of the executive of the National Unemployed Workers’ Movement was held on Monday evening. Mr G. Geddes, president, occupied the chair. Correspondence was received from the mayor (Rev. E. T. Cox) and the'general secretary, N.U.W.M., Wellington. An interesting report by the president on the protest meeting held in the Burns Hall was received. Remits were handed to delegates to bring before the District Council meeting. The secretary was instructed to draw up a circular for distribution and to arrange a meeting of all unemployed women in the Trades Hall on Tuesday, June 26, for the purpose of forming a women’s branch of the N.U.W.M. It was agreed that a circular be distributed in Caversham to reorganise the men’s branch. Complaints on the treatment of relief workers at various depots were received. Delegates were instructed to bring this matter before the District Council. The organiser was instructed to visit certain .works to gather information regarding complaints received, and to report at the next meeting.

ND. 2 DISTRICT A meeting of relief workers will be held in the No. 2 depot, St. Andrew street, on Tuesday next, at 7.30 p.m., in connection with the formation of a Relief Workers’ Self-help Social Service Club.
