NEW FLOOR TREATMENT

“ PLEASING AND ARTISTIC FINISH " A new English material for the preservation and decoration of timber, for both interior and exterior work, offers a particularly effective treatment for old and new floors. With this material, the manufacturers claim, woodwork in one simple operation is positively preserved from insect attack and decay, and receives a finish of a most pleasing and artistic’ character. There is present in the material a very high percentage of phenolic bodies, which exert a powerful preservative action upon all kinds of timber. Whilst non-poisonous, it is capable of dealing with all wood devouring pests and lower organisms, rendering timber immune from the attack of White ants, borer, beetle, _ and fungi, alid the presence of vermin and bacteria. The efficiency of a wood preservative —however powerful—is to a large extent dependent upon adequate penetration. Owing to its natural high capillarity, this new material, it is claimed, penetrates the pores _ and minute channels of tile Wodtl, driving out air and moisture in a remarkable manner. A microscopic examination reveals the fact that even the cell Walls arc impregnated Without injury.. Thus thorough prolefction of the heaviest timber is assured. This new material is a most artistic brown stain, lb “ brings out ” the beauty of the natural grain of the wood, and is capable of imparting a rich appearance even to the cheapest woods.
