FEMALE WORKERS' AWARD The -Arbitration Court has, given its decision in the case in which application was made for an order fixing the minimum rates of wages to he paid to female workers under the New Xeniand private hotel employees' award. Where three cooks are employed; First cook. £2 17s fid per week; second cook. £2. Where two cooks are employed: First cook. £2 os per week; second cook. £1 15s. Where one cook is employed, if the number of workers in the establishment. exceeds three, the cook is to receive £2 per week, • Jf the number of workers in the establishment does not exceed three, the cook will receive £1 1.5 s per week; other cooks will receive £1 12s 6d per week. Kitchenmaids in their first twelve months’ experience will receivi £1 per week, and thereafter £1 10s per week; waitresses, housemaid-waitresses, housemaids. pantrymaids. relieving maids, linen maids, 15s per week for the first twel/e months, and thereafter £1 os; head waitresses, employed as such when three or more waitresses are employed, £1 7s fid per week: laundresses. £1 Is fid per week ; general hands, £1 12s fid per week.

Casual workers employed for less than one week will receive -50 per cent, above pro rata weekly rates. All the rates include board and lodging. If board is not provided the wages shall be increased by 16s per week, and if lodging is not. provided the wages shall be increased by 8s per week. Where w-ork is done away from the
