[Contributed.] Given by Begg’s Orchestra, with the assistance of Dunedin artists, a conceit in aid of the school appeal fund was held in the Macandrew Bay Hall on vVednesday evening, Mr W. Milward (chairman of the School Committee) presiding. A varied and entertaining programme was presented by the following:—Orchestral items by the orchestra, under the conductorship of Mr F. J. Himberg; songs, Miss B. Gallieu and Miss Sommerville, Mrs Carty, and Mrs Hawes; violin solos, Miss B. Garland. Miss Crooks was the accompanist. At the conclusion of the concert a short dance was held, music being supplied by Mrs Barkman and Mr Euldell. To wind up the model yacht season and present the prizes won a social evening was held on Thursday. A letter was received from Mr V. Dickinson, the commodore, who was unfortunately unable to be present, wishing those present a pleasant evening. Votes of thanks for their during the racing were accorded to Miss M. Bewley and Mr A. Baker, and also to the secretary (Mr J. Brown). Hints and suggestions were given to the boys about the handling of their boats by Mr Baker. / Mr G. Bewley presented the cups won, and congratulated the winners, especially the winner of the Otago Harbour championship (won by a local yacht). The following is the list of prize-winners:—Tuesdays’ races 1 First class—Leslie and Revenge (equal) 1, lolanthe 3. Second class—Noeline 1, Mystic 2, Pilot 3. Third class—Dot 1, Ti Tiki 2. Thursdays’ races: First class—lron Duke 1, Leslie 2, Elinor 3. Second class Capstan 1, Mystic 2, Noeline 3. Third class—Pansy 1, Dot 2, Saturdays’ races: First class—Leslie 1, Elinor 2, Revenge 3. Second class— White Wings 1, Capstan 2, Pansy 3, Third class—Dot 1, Alert 2. Saturdays’ shield: First class, Leslie; second class, White Wings; third class, Dot. Championship of Otago Harbour and Brown Cup, Masters A. and'L. Woodhouse’s Leslie.. This cup was presented by the donor, Mr J, Brown. At the conclusion of the presentation supper was handed round.
Two prizes given to the Card Chib by Mr and Mrs Howlands for the Inchest aggregate points in a four-weekly competition were presented on Tuesday evening at the club’s weekly meeting, the winners being Mrs Gibson (ladies’ prize) and Mr Tuckey (men’s).
