Satisfaction at tho progress being made both with the studio premises at the top of Shortland street and the transmitter building near Henderson for the new IYA radio station was expressed by the manager to the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, Mr K. C. Hands, prior to his departure after a business visit to Auckland. “ The powerful now station is certain to stimulate the increase in licenses even before the station actually comes into operation at the end of the year.” said Mr Hgnds. The present year promised to be a record one for radio, and it -was not too much to hope that by the end of the current financial year the 150.000 mark would be reached.
