THE WIGHTMAN CUP Pre»s Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 15. , (Deceived June 16, at 1 p.m.) Following are results in the Wightman Cup contest: — SINGLES. 'Mrs Palfrev defeated Miss Round, 6- 3-6, 8-6. ‘ Miss Jacobs defeated Miss Scnven, 6-1, 6-1. DOUBLES. Dearman and Lyle defeated Babcock and Cruickshank, 7-5, 7-5. Miss Round was leading 6-5 in the final set, and was serving well, when the umpire interrupted, ordering new balls, with which Miss Round doublefaulted and then lost three games. Miss Jacobs’s chopped drives troubled Miss Scriven. PECEENHAM TOURNAMENT. In the Peekenham tournament in the semi-finals in- the men’s singles Austin defeated Fujikura, 6-0, 6-3; Yamagishi defeated Nigel Sharpe, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. In the women’s singles Miss Hartigan defeated Miss Yorke, 6-3, 6-4; .Mrs King defeated Mrs Andrus (America);, 7- 6-3. ' DAVIS CUP MILAN, June 15. (Received June 16, at 1 p.m.) In the Davis Cup semi-final (European zone), Stefani (Italy) defeated Hecht (Czechoslovakia), 6-3, 7-5, 1-6, 6-1: Menzel (Czechoslovakia), defeated Rado (Italy), 6-1, 6-2, 10-8.
