MR LATHAM’S MISSION OUTLET FOR WOOL . Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, June 14. Addressing tho Sane Democracy League to-day, the Federal AttorneyGeneral (Mr J. G. Latham) discussed his recent mission to the East. He said that he was convinced that no point was likely to arise between Australia and her Eastern neighbours which could not bo effectively settled in a quiet, conversation between _ the responsible leaders. The mission _ went away because there was developing in the East a feeling of tension which boded ill for the countries on this side of the Pacific. “ All the countries I visited want to be friends with Australia without exception,” he said. “ "We must Lope for the establishment of real peace and prosperity in the East. There are great changes taking place in the clothing of the peoples of the East. I am most hopeful of the future of wool in those countries. I explained that the policy of Australia was tha J - Australia would first protect the Australian industries and conserve tho interests of British trade. Thereafter our duty was to consider the industries of countries which traded generously with us.” Mr Latham said that he found _it necessary to remove a misconception about the Northern Territory of Australia being a. rich and fertile land on which Australia was prohibiting settlement.
