BOOKS OVERDUE

WARNING BY LIBRARY COMMITTEE The Library Committee of the City Council reports that the stock taking at the library has now been completed, and, while the returns may be regarded as generally satisfactory, having 'due regard to the heavy increase in the number of readers, it appears that further action in regard to books recorded as “ outstanding ” will require to be taken. In the lending branch particularly there are quite a number of such books still in the possession of users, and, with a, view to affording a final opportunity for the return’of the books to the shelves, it has been decided to withhold drastic procedure for the recovery of the outstanding volumes for fourteen -days only. Upon the expiration of that period it is intended to institute legal proceedings for the recovery of all books wrongfully retained, whether unintentionally or not., ,
