TO-MORROW'S FOOTBALL
RUGBY Only two more rounds remain to be played in the first round, and as there are only a few points separating the five top teams there promises to be an interesting race for the leading position at the end of the first round. Interest to-morrow will no doubt centre round the match between Southern and University A, to be played at Carisbrook. This promises to be one of the best games of the season. Southern has a good all-round team both back and forward. University is also an improving side. The backs possess plenty of pace, and with two teams out to provide fast open football a thrilling game should be witnessed. At Bishopscourt a well-con-tested game should be witnessed between those old-time rivals, Alhambra and Kaikorai. Special interest centres round this game owing to the fact that both clubs will celebrate their jubilee this year. . At Tahuna Park Zingarillichmond will meet Dunedin. Pirates will play Union at the main ground, Logan Park, and at the University Oval Taieri will meet University B. Patrons are reminded that matches will commence at -2.30. Official guides will be on sale at the Otago Sports Depot, S. Jacobs’s, and at the various grounds. SOCCER As several of the clubs are affected by the absence of players with the Otago representative team which plays Auckland to-morrow for the English football trophy, the usual club games in the Fletcher Cup competitions have been postponed, and instead a five-a-sido tournament for senior division teams will be played at the Caledonian Ground, starting at 1.30. Several years have elapsed since a similar event has been held in Dunedin. For the benefit of spectators arrangements have been completed for progress reports of the challenge match with Auckland to bo announced. RUGBY LEAGUE Visitors to the Oval should witness two excellent games of Rugby League. Pacific has a much-improved side, while Athletic in its last match held City to a penalty goal. Christian Brothers will meet City in the second game, and bright, open football should be witnessed. Both sides combine well.
