MILITARY APPOINTMENT

COLONEL T. R. EASTWOOD LONDON, May SO. Major and Brevet Lieutenant-colonel T. R. Eastwood, the Rifle Brigade, has been selected to command the 2nd Battalion, the King’s Royal Rifle Corps, in succession to Lieutenantcolonel H. 0. Curtis, who has been appointed officer commanding British troops in Palestine. Colonel Eastwood was A.D.C. to the Earl of Liverpool in New Zealand from 1912. On the outbreak of war he served first in Samoa and then went to Egypt as staff captain of the 4th Australian Brigade, crossing with it to Italy. Later he served with the Neiv Zealand Rifle Brigade in Egypt and France, and was general staff officer to the New Zealand Division. Subsequently he went to North Russia with Lord Rawlmson and returned with him to Aldershot. Colonel Eastwood has since been on the staff at Cork, the War Office, and the Staff College, of which he is a graduate.
