COMMUNITY SINGING

To-morrow the weekly sing will take place in the Strand Theatre (by couitesy of Fuller-Hay ward). There is no doubt that these sings are firmly'established and eagerly looked forward to by the hundreds who attend and listeners-in each Friday. Mr H. 1. Desmoulins will again be leader this week. A surprise item will not be announced until the sing is in progress. It certainly will be a most pleasant surprise for those present and listeners-m. In addition to this special item, the two Philip sisters will assist with cornet and piano items. The committee is pleased to know that lifctcnCrs-in are enjoying the sings, and that promised donations have been very good. Last, week these included a ton of coal each from two very keen listpners-in. In addition to this, quite a number of donations were promised through the splendid ducts • rendered by the Aliases Shrimpton. The secretary will be pleased to receive all these promises at an earlv date. Miss Rita Holmes will be at the piano, as usual. 'The secretary has bad quite a number of inquiries for the words of the ‘ Ode. which is sung every Friday. All donations, no matter how small, may be sent to the secretary, care Begft’s. or to the Strand Theatre. 'These will be acknowledged over the air. The proceeds are fdr the mayor’s unemployment fund.
