TO' THE EDITOR. giv,—I would like to ask; Is it possible to secure any official figures ox the number of persona resident in and around Dunedin who hail from Northumberland and Durham? My reason for doing so is that I consider the time is now opportune for the formation of a Northumberland arid Durham society, with the object of preserving Tyneside traditions, customs, and folklore. There are similar organisations functioning successfully in the North Island, and 1. see no reason why a society cannot be formed here, and those who hail from the far north of England “hev a. taak aboot odd times in canny Newcastle or Sooth Shells.’—l am, etc., Geohdie.
