Four dignitaries of the Anglican Church who attended the consecration in Dunedin yesterday—the Arch-* bishop, and the Bishops of Christchurch, Waiapu, and Waikato—left this morning by the 11.35 train. Sir Robert Anderson came to Dunedin last night, and left for Wellington this morning. , The Rev. Isaac Jolly and Mrs Jolly entrained for the north this morning, bound for Nelson. The mayor (the Rev. E. T. Cox) is on his way to Wellington for a meeting of the executive of the Municipal Association. Mr W. Downie Stewart, M.P., returned from Invercargill by this morning’s train. Mr P. L. Halsted left this morning for visits to Christchurch, Wellington, and Wanganui. Mr F. Avent, of J. W. Swift and Co. went north to-day to embark for London on a business trip. ■Mr Joseph Mosley, of Clydevale, left this morning to attend the Romney Marsh Breeders’ Conference at Palmerston North. After an absence of thirty-one years from New Zealand, Mr W. E. Jones, formerly of Timaru,' returned by the Maunganui from Sydney on a health trip. He will stay in New Zea!and_ until the end of July.-—Press Association. Mr Neville Newbold left for Christchurch this morning. At the meeting of the committee of the Otago Rugby Union last night the president (Mr J. Mitchell) referred to the recent death in. Auckland of the father of Dr Harty, a member of the committee. A motion of sympathy with Dr Harty was carried. Mr R." 6. Forbes and Misses B and J. Forbes, the son and daughters of the Prime Minister, who have been on a holiday visit to Australia, returned by the Maunganui. Word was received by. mail this morning of the death in Melbourne of Mr Marcus Bell, third son of the late Mr George Bell (who for a brief time about thirty years ago was managing director of the ‘ Evening Star ’) and grandson of the late Mr George Bell; of this city. Mr Marcus Bell was superintendent of the Commonwealth Defence Department’s laboratories at Maribyrnong, near Melbourne, and at the time of his death was arranging for his retirement for health reasons. During the war he was sent to India and England with a staff of scientists and engineers to obtain information for the establishment of an arsenal in Australia, and for his services he was awarded the 0.8. E. In his youth Mr Bell rowed for Melbourne University,; and up till recently was a keen tennis player. He was also for many years one of Melbourne’s most accomplished amateur ’cellists. Air Bell, who was in his fifty-fourth year, leaves a widow and three sons. Air and Airs R. J. Annan, of Mansard, Port Chalmers, returned to Wellington yesterday by the Maunganui on furlough after five and a-half years in'Abyssinia. .Mr Reginald Stowe, architect, of Wellington, who has been visiting Dunedin on business, left for the north by the second express this morning. _ Captain A. P. Harper, of Wellington, who has been spending a few days in Dunedin, left for Oamaru this morn?iew visitors to the Grand Hotel are Alessrs J, H. Fordo and D; E. Rout (Wellington), Alessrs E.
