Detectives here are engaged in a difficult case,' the murder of John By an, aged seventy-nine, a retired farmer, who was found shot at Barry, in the Blayney district. By an was found dead in a sitting posture in an armchair in the isolated cottage where lie lived by himself on his sous’ property.
The detectives ascertained that Ryan was formerly a wealthy man. Ho sold a largo portion of the property to his two sous at a nominal figure, but the residue of the property disappeared by unaccountable means. This aspect is now engaging attention and may provide a motive for the crime. A bullet wound in Ryan’s head was disclosed, the shot having been tired at fairly close range, possibly while he was asleep jll front of the tiro.
