The .cargo was loaded at Bluff, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, Wellington, aiid Auckland. . ; . The one Imperial sloop now on the New Zealand naval station, H.AI.S. Laburnum, commanded, by. Commander A, H. Alaswell-Hyslop, is shortly to leave Auckland on her annual Island muse. She was' originally to have sailed a week ago yesterday, but her departure was postponed until Friday. However, a minor boiler defect was discovered and her final sailing has been further delayed. The Laburnum is to make an , extended cruise, and her original programme provided for her return to Auckland on September 4. The new sloop, H.AI.S. Leith, winch Is to - join the ■ Laburnum, on the New Zealand station in place of H.AI.S. Veronica, is due to arrive in Auckland in October. Details of her movements I between England arid New ; Zealand 1 iiave not* yet been, announced.

Good progress is being made with the repairs to the port propeller shaft of H.AI.S. Dunedin, flagship of Rear-ad-miral F. Burges Watson. A defect in the tailshaft has been responsible for keeping the cruiser in dock at Dovonpoi t for a prolonged period. The. complete shaft, 72ft long and weighing 13 tons, had to be removed to the workshops for repairs on what is thought to be the only lathe in the Southern Hemisphere capable of being used for the necessary work. The tailshaft has now been replaced, but other, work remains to be done, and the Dunedin will not come out of dock until to-morrow, when she will leave for the ll'auraki Gulf to carry out full-speed trials. The long period spent in dock by the Dunedin will necessitate alterations in the Island cruise programme of H.AI.S. Diomede, commanded by Captain Cosmo Graham. The Diomede was originally announced to sail on June 18, but she will be unable to go into dock for final overhaul until the repairs to the Dunedin are completed. As the cruiser will have to spend ten days in dock she is not likely to sail before June 25. Owing to the loss of a week from her programme the Diomede’s itinerary has been amended, and calls at Ocean Island, Tarawa, and Apia have had to be omitted. The cruiser’s amended programme is as follows.—Norfolk Island, June’2B; Vila’, June 30 to July 4; Hog Harbour. July 4 to 9; Funafuti, July 12 to 16; Rotuma b, July 17 to 19; Suva, July 20 to 30; Vavau, August 1 to 2; Nukualofa, August 3to 7; return to Auckland. August 10. The Dunedin’s Island cruise will be .more among the islands of the Eastern Pacific. She will visit Tahiti and Rarotonga, and will return to Auckland on August 7.. When the two cruisers are back in Auckland there will be a busy period in preparation for the gunnery exercises in the Hauraki Gulf and also for the trip to Australia, where they will officially represent the dominion at the Melbourne centenary celebrations in October.VESSELS IN WIRELESS CALL.
