Albany, on the grounds that the University team bail included several A team players Whs received.—The match was awarded to Albany. At this stage, Mr Brebner vacated the chair in favour of Mr H. IfV Payton. In view of the fact that advice had been received from Australia that the Australian Executive refused to play a test, match in Dunedin on September 1, a further discussion upon the toiir took place. It was explained that Australia’s protest was based upon the fact tbtit September 1 was almost at the beginning of the tour, and Was, therefore. unfair to the visitors. September 8 Was suggested as the earliest available date. A deputation which had Waited on the Otago Rugby Union reported thast it had suggested to the union that the hockey match Australia v. New Zealand be played as a curtainraiser to the Otago V. Wellington match on that date. The matter" had been deferred until the union arrived at a decision. ThO deputation’s action Was approved. I’he North Otago Association sent an explanation of its inability to field a team on June 2, and expressed the hope that a match could be arranged at some future date. It was decided that in view of the postponements to which the local competition had already been subjected, any matter of a future match would have to be considered later. Technical appealed for the match Technical College Old Boys v. University C On June 2, again on the grounds that senior players had participated. The match was awarded to Technical. The Match Committee reported that the inclemency of the weather had forced a postponement on June 2, and recommended that such matches be postponed till the end of the roiliid.
