WOMEN'S HOCKEY
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE At the meeting of the executive Miss Hill presided over a full attendance of members. The secretary of the Referees’ Association advised that there would be a meeting of the association, details of the scheme for examination for referees under the N.Z.W.H.A. to be forwarded to the Referees’ Association for its consideration. The following report on the seven-a-side tournament was received: —The weather had been favourable on the day, which enabled the games to be got through. By the time the special marking, etc., had been paid for it was doubtful if there would be a profit. In moving the adoption of the report, the Chairwoman said under the circumstances the tourney had been quite successful. and she hoped they would yet be able to show a small credit balance. Congratulations were extended to the Milton Club on winning both cups. Votes of thanks were passed to the referees for the willing way in which they had assisted all day to the members of St. John Ambulance, and to Mr Knox, groundsman, who had put in a lot of extra work to make the playing of \thc games possible. The secretary reported that the Oval grounds were still very wet, and several schemes were discussed regarding their use, it being finally decided to reduce the size of No. 2 ground, and so get rid of one very bad patch on the south goal circle.
