BALMACEWEN BOWLING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETINGThe annual meeting of the BaD maeewen Bowling Club was held in the club’s pavilion on Saturday evening, Mr J. Melville being in the chair.There was a fair attendance of members. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, the Chairman said that the club was distinctly fortunate in the qualifications of its new members both as players and as social assets to the club. The club had done well in club matches, especially;in the Adess Shield competition, which had been won by Messrs Ferguson, Buchan, Omand, and Avent. The chairman paid a tribute to the wives of the members, who had_ been only too willing to give every assistance they could in the activities of the club, special reference being made to the croquet ladies. In Mr Leslie the club had a« ideal secretary, and to him was owed a deep debt of gratitude for the' very efficient work he had done during the year. The motion was seconded by- Mr J. Nisbet and carried.
The following office-bearers wore elected -Vice-president, Mr J. M‘Donald; secretary, Mr D. Leslie; Bowling Committee—Messrs V. Smith, H. Wilson, J. Melville, and E. Rackley; Selection Committee—Messrs T. Ferguson, F. Lamboth, and J. Melville; Club Tie Committee, Messrs E. Rackley and A. W. Macdonald; Green Committee, .Messrs T. Ferguson and I'. Lambeth; delegates to tho Otago Bowling: Centre, Messrs J, M'Donald and W. Morrison.
The chairman distributed tho prizes won during the year as follows :—Champion singles,. F. Lambeth; handicap singles, R- Watson I, J. Glover 2; clubdoubles, J. Buchan and T. M'Clelland; champion doubles, J. Buchan-'and D. Bennie 1, J. Nisbet and R.; Watson 2; rinks—R. Glover, I. Kinnston, J. Harraway, and T. Hindle.
