REFEREES ATTACKED
PLAYFUL WRESTLERS AND BOXERS Alex. Lundyn (Sweden) was disqualified in the fifth round of a bout against Joe Dawson (New Zealand) at the Luxor Theatre, Perth,, on April 21 (says the ‘Australasian’). At the beginning of the round, with' one fall each, the men resorted to punching and slapping. Dawson was driven to the canvas by a “ rabbit-killer ” and other blows. Lundyn then attacked the referee, who disqualified him..A free fight developed, and continued until the arrival of the police. Disorder occurred in the seventh round of a wrestling bout between Billy Meeske (14.0) and Sam Burmeister (14.7) at the Bohemia Stadium, Brisbane, on April 21. The police entered the ring and stopped the contest. No decision was given, as the referee (W. Mnnden) had been rendered unconscious by Burmeister, and had not recovered when the spectators left the building. ■ - . . • As a result of the referee s decision in a preliminary boxing contest at the Brisbane Stadium on Saturday.
