KNOCK-OUT COMPETITION The first round of the Otago Club's knock-out competition was played oil the Balmacewen links on Saturday afternoon. Only five matches were to he played in the first round, and all'of these proved very close. The results were as follows : R. F. Barr beat G.’M. Lloyd 2 and 1, J. N. Lemon beat M. W. Johnson 1 up, H. A. B. Brabant heat; El R. Simkin 2 ami l,i J'. R. Callender beat A. C. Holmes 2 up at the twenty-first’. H. J. Dodgshun beat J. W. Potts 2 up.
